In the last flutter of seconds before the page of our calendars flipped to March, my short story, The Ravenous Flock, was published in the February issue of Myths Inscribed ezine. You can either read it directly from their website here, or you can read it on your mobile device via the Myths Inscribed free subscription within the Google Currents app.
It is a ‘Warp and Weft feature story’ meaning that they took the extra time to work with me and lay in some tasteful edits. In addition, at 5,000 words, The Ravenous flock was too long for their ezine so they split it in two. I was thrilled that their suggested break-point was exactly the same spot that I had in mind. It wasn’t exactly in the middle, but the second half doesn’t need to be of the same length as the first.
A note about their suggested edits: I loved them and I learned a lot in the process! They said that the first half of my story needed very little edits. They removed some redundancies which shorted some of my sentences and improved the flow. They said that for part 2 of my story, there will be more substantive changes – and I’m looking forward to the edits that they suggest!
Please, check out part 1 of The Ravenous Flock!
